mayan calendar portal

In 2006, one of the world's top researchers on the Sacred Mayan Calendar, Dr. Carl Calleman, approached LUCITÀ with the idea of producing a portal web site for this ancient calendar.  Initially intended to be a volunteer-produced and maintained portal site, the project turned into a lasting friendship and collaboration with Dr. Calleman, the people at Mayan Majix, and other individuals and organizations actively interested in the Mayan Calendar.

The portal site intertwines lush jungle foliage with three interactive quartz rings that bear the glyphs of the Mayan day signs, tones, and their accompanying deities. All of this is embedded into a layout based on the dot and the bar, the core elements of the Mayan mathematical system.

Ourselves inspired and fascinated by the Mayan culture, we designed and produced Sacred Sites, a 2008 wall calendar in collaboration with photographer Martin Gray, which sold all over the world.

In 2007, the press release we wrote and distributed via CSRwire was number one for the first two months of the year.  In 2008, the site was honored with a Silver award from the International Academy of the Visual Arts' W3 Awards.  Our involvement with this special project continues to the present day.
